Once upon a time . . .
This is how many stories begin. Mine started with a silly New Year’s Resolution in 2012 to write a book in a year. I had written quite a bit in the academic world, and generally, my instructors thought I had a way with words.
Well, fast-forward to November of 2012, and I was the proud owner of an 85,000-word first draft of a novel. While that particular novel is a work in progress (it’s currently gathering dust on my bookshelf, but it’ll be a real book someday), it jump-started a desire to further my ambitions to write and publish a book.
So in 2015 I decided to participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNo WriMo) and completed a 50,000-word novel on November 30th. So that’s how we got to where I am today. I’ve published my first short story on my website and Amazon, and hopefully, my NaNo WriMo novel will soon be my first published book.
It has taken a while to get here, but the process has taught me extraordinary things about who I am and the stories I have to tell.
